My dear friends,
I have just survived the most frightening, loudest and creepy thundersturm I have ever come across.
During the last minutes of my lecture I already started to get worried because I could hear the thunder banging outside, but once I got out of the building, I new that I would reach home completely soaking wet. It was pouring down with rain. Like strings it came down from the sky, forming streams of mud that flooded the pathways. Since I didn’t have many options, I put a towel above my head – normally I don’t bring towels to uni
, but today Asa just gave one back to me, how lucky! – and started to make my way down to the bus stop. The campus was almost empty, no one was around, except from a lonely turtle that crossed the pathway
Usually I walk home from uni, but today I decided to take the bus. Unfortunately there is no bus that goes directly home. I only had the option to take a bus across the bridge and then walk the remaining 10 minutes home or take a bus to the P.A. hospital that is just across the street from where I live. I thought I would be a little smartarse and take the bus to the hospital because even though the bus stop is at the other end of the hospital, I thought I would probably be able to walk inside through the hospital for most of the way.
Well, the decision was made and I took the bus to the hospital. When I got off the bus, I found myself in a humongous bus stop that had 4 storeys (I know that because I walked all the storeys down, only to find out that the crossover to the hospital was at the level I just came from). I found the crossing over to the hospital and made my way further onto the premises. By this stage the thunder was so incredibly lound that I really started to get scared. Thunder and lightning followed quickly after one another. The lightning lit up the sky as bright as day for seconds, only to let it turn back into the pitchblack night. I thought I would be safe in the hospital, but in the end I was lost in a maze of deserted hallways. There were just a few nurses around, it smelled weird and I decided that it was easier to find my way home when I got back outside. Finally I found a place that I recognized from the few times I have been in the hospital’s library. From there I made my way home. I ran because I was so scared that the lightning could hit me. I wanted to take a break and decided to use a bus stop as a hideout but when I got there it was already “occupied” by a scary old man that smoked weed.
Looking back it seems quite funny, but at the time my heart beat fast and I just hoped to get home as quickly as possible. But imagine me hiding under my towel, barefoot (i had to take my thongs off, because they were too slippery) and paranoid running around the hospital
Eventually, I found my way back home. The fact that I looked like a drowned rat didn’t matter anymore
Five minutes after I got home, we had a power blackout. Since that meant that there wouldn’t be any cooking tonight, we ordered pizza and sat in the dark
.
Now I am dry again, snuggling on the lounge in front of the TV, my stomach is filled with Pizza and Coke and I feel safe again! All’s well that ends well…
